For all those people who have been whining for years about the unwillingness of Infiniti to bring us a convertible version of the coupe, shut your mouth because the new 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible is now here! When Infiniti was in its infancy, they tried a convertible in the M30.
The Infiniti Convertible gets aluminum trim, seats that are bolstered, and a larger trunk. The Convertible is jam packed with accessories like, Bose Open Air audio system with thirteen speakers (and a couple in the headrest), a wind deflector, pop-up rollbars, optional heated and cooled seats, and automatic adjusting climate control. The Bose audio system was designed specifically for the G37 Convertible, and uses digital signal processing/noise-monitoring microphones to adjust sound to compensate for wind and other ambient noises. The G37 has different body panels that allow the 3 piece hardtop to retract into the trunk and is covered by a tonneau cover. The convertible top can be put down in no time.
Nissan engineers did a great job of modifying the chassis, suspension, panels, and trunk area to adapt the car as a convertible. A reatractable hardtop, tonneau cover, and necessary motors cause the G37 convertible to gain a bit of weight. Its over 400 pounds. heavier that the coupe and over 100lbs. greater than the BMW 335i convertible.
Engine wise, the 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible has a 3.7-liter motor that can produce 327 horsepower and 276 torque.lb-ft torque. Available with a excellent six-speed manual included in the sport package or a 7 speed auto. The G37 come standard with huge 19 inch wheels, large brakes, and a sporty steering system.
